What do we mean by “Summer Trend 2017/2018”? Have you ever noticed that interior is getting more exotic in this summer and certainly next year, as well as in terms of patterns and colors? In our trend search, we also noticed that there is currently no particular new furniture style, but the existing trend styles are spiced up and interpreted. As a result, the trend styles continue to evolve in different directions.
Whether it is Scandinavian Style, Modern Style, Vintage or Maritime, everything gets a touch of holiday in the new summer trend 2017/2018.
Not everyone can or wants to spend a vacation in African or Oriental destinations or to Central and South America. The unstable political situation in many very popular holiday destinations is surely contributing to this. The desire for holiday flair at home (and this summer is actually quite decent in Germany) is awakened, and not only for outside. Especially for the interior there are many new accessories and furniture, which remind us of the holiday regions now.
Let’s start with the furniture: rattan furniture, swing baskets and hanging mats do not only do well on our balconies and terraces. Now, furniture made of rattan, curved bamboo, wild oak and rubber are the trend wood types from which chairs, tables, sideboards and much more are manufactured. The perfect holiday flair is generated with bowls or a swinging basket made of rattan. In the interior, the new summer trend 2017/2018 has the effect of bringing a holiday feeling in everyday life. A swing of rattan in the room? Why not! Just let your mind wander when you get off work – such a piece of furniture invites you to do so.
With so many accessories, there is a lot to choose from for a good holiday flair at home now.
For example Kersten BV, a renowned retailer of accessories and furniture, already had the topic “Ibiza style” on their agenda in 2016. This year, a number of well-known companies follow them and also present items for outdoor and indoor to the market. You can feel a sea of breeze, sun and holiday feeling when you look at the furniture and decoration accessories of the theme “Ibiza”. Do you love DIY? Let’s go! The wall decoration with macramé is obligatory with this style and for practiced crochet friends certainly no problem. Of course also many other manufacturers have it in their portfolio. For example Bloomingville or Hübsch, whose products can be found in the well-stocked specialist trade. A handmade look and a bit of imperfection in the design is allowed and wanted here.
In addition, nets, mermaids, shells, mother-of-pearl decoration, organic planters in trendy colors, mirrors with opulent frames and decorative objects such as pineapples and cacti in ceramics are also presented at fairs. Plants are still a musthave – especially naturally exotic variants, such as yucca, philodendron, cocos leaf or succulents and cacti. Metal colors for this summer trend are brass, gold and chrome-black.
But how do the many different decorative items, fabrics, metal and wood colors best suit the home style?
The flamingo and the parrot, as well as intense mixed colors on fabrics and accessories à la Hawaiian shirts from the 80s are shown at trade fairs rather in outdoor areas. That makes sense, because in rooms it can look too colorful and shrill. Outside, however, you can create a location like in Florida or Hawaii with bamboo mats, rattan furniture and these accessories. Make your balcony a holiday island.
Those who have a Scandinavian style in the interior can sit on rattan armchairs and at the dining table on rattan cupchairs.
Place a lot of plants so that green becomes the defining color in the rooms, otherwise stay with the beige natural colors and simple furniture that make up the Scandinavian style.
A few planters in muted green, macramé wall hangings or room dividers as well as rattan style mirrors complete the holiday flair. If you like to you can also invest in some brass-colored accessories, such as a pineapple, candlestick or a simple side table in a brass finish and a glass plate. On the couch it is now possible to drape pillows of macramé technique, coarse-woven pieces with fringes and tassels as well as coarse knit. In this case, you can use a dark anthracite or washed-out black.
In vintage style, white-glazed furniture or pieces of furniture with carved accents can be used.
A lot of gold-white combinations are used here. Large mirror combinations with filigree details and accessories in wool-white and brass. Less to no macramé and rattan details are appropriate.
Its looking very beautiful when a color accent, like in the form of a covered rose color is used, which can be found in a pillow or a day blanket. Otherwise, the holiday flair is caused by the imperfection such as dishware of different types, crystal glasses of various shapes or similar color. Cabinets with lead glasses made of dark brown-black or gray-black metal, must be placed separately in the vintage – unless you want to change the direction to colonial style.
If you like it more orientally, you place intensely colored, opulent pillows of satin and similar noble fabrics on a large sofa and take a blanket richly decorated with gold threads.
Now with decorative items and lamps made of metal, the matching accessories, such as lanterns, pendant lamps, shisha and noble metal plates – the flair looks like a thousand-and-one night. To stay true to the style its recommended to use a Persian carpet on the wall and or on the floor, also poufs fit well here. In the bedroom a sky of slightly transparent fabric with lace on the edges or tassels is nice as well.
In the case of metal colors it is both silver and gold-matt shades, whereby you should decide for one to keep it harmonious. Great, there are beautiful metal lamps available on this subject again by Boltze. They presented them in their new collection – a rather reserved oriental style in the colors brass, wool-white and brown, which also seemed very noble.
An interior style that is really trending now is the maritime style but this time the colors blue, red and white no longer are primaries.Click to tweet
Lanterns in different sizes with new optics are still present in maritime style. New patterns like the zig-zag or rhombi mix under the typical striped patterns. There is a lot of rattan and macramé used, as well as lights in weirs optics, or a glass ball wrapped in macramé. Typical accessories are mermaids, shells, nets, coarse ropes around mirrors and planters with discreet patterns. Here too, the new metal cabinets can be used to set an accent towards a colonial style.
For the retro style you rather leave all the too exotic accessories, possibly only a single piece, which makes the visitors smile like a pineapple bookend.
However, it would be very appropriate to use subtle macramé objects, For example, hanging baskets or a shelf of macramé and wood. Retro is traditionally more laid out in color. A smoke blue and many wool-white coarse fabric structures create more holiday flair here. Also picture frames with individual exotic leaves and decoration in the form of leafs are offered. Some green accents with succulents and other plants complete the overall picture.
These were a few tips on how to create a relaxed holiday flair in the different interior styles. The new summer trend 2017/2018 is so unobtrusive that it can easily be used all year round. How you can create mood for Christmas, we will show elsewhere in another article.
