A solar roof was built, which uses the entire roof area and can not be recognized as such at first sight. This roof system is not only beautiful, but also very efficient due to the fact that every roof orientation is used. It catches light from every angle of the roof and feeds it into the second component, the new battery from Tesla, the Powerwall 2.
Solar Roof – energy production with the entire roof area
The solar roof from Tesla and Solar City is a complete roof that is beautiful, durable and brings renewable electricity production into any home or business. When Tesla and Solar City designed the solar roof, the goal was to create the most beautiful and efficient roof of all time – one that made the houses look better and at the same time reduced electricity costs.
The solar roof consists of uniquely designed glass tiles with highly efficient photovoltaic cells in each tile. It is customizable for a variety of different house styles and the cells are not visible. Powerwall 2 – the most efficient, most compact and stable battery solution
Introduced in October 2016, Powerwall 2 is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery designed to enable self-consumption of solar power, emergency backup, load shifting and other grid service applications. It is the second generation of the original Powerwall product from Tesla, which was first presented to customers in 2015.
Powerwall 2 consists of a 14 kWh lithium-ion battery, with liquid-based temperature control, an integrated inverter, and software that intelligently delivers power when it is most needed. The unit mounts seamlessly on a wall or on the ground, indoors or outdoors, and is integrated with the grid to export excess energy, maximizing the opportunity for economic benefit. Like other systems, the Powerwall also saves solar energy and returns it at a later time when the sun does not shine. This functionality increases the environmental and cost advantages of solar.
The Powerwall is offered in two versions: AC and DC to provide the greatest flexibility to customers.
You can use the power wall with a new or existing solar panel system or on its own as a backup or for regular usage. The device comes at a price of currently 7.150 Euros and 13.5 kWh of capacity. This makes the Powerwall 2 an attractive solution for many homeowners with a corresponding solar system to provide self sufficient energy.
